ANDREW POWIS FIH, FCSI, Managing Partner has spent over forty years in the catering industry. His experience has involved numerous aspects of catering including hotels, licensed restaurants, outside catering, equipment distributors and consultancy.
Andrew has worked for The Post Office, Grand Metropolitan and Horwood Catering Equipment Limited at senior management and Director levels. Before setting up Sterling with Elaine, he spent seven years with the largest foodservice consultancy practice in Europe as Managing Director of their Midlands company, where he was responsible for all design work undertaken by the Company in Ireland as well as UK based projects.
He has worked on the design of a large number of complex projects in the U.K. and Ireland, both new facilities and refurbishments.
Andrew is a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality and a Professional Member of the Foodservice Consultants Society International and he has also acted as an Expert Witness on behalf of Clients seeking legal redress.
ELAINE POWIS, Senior Partner
ELAINE POWIS Senior Partner was trained at Blackpool and Fylde Catering College and obtained her extensive knowledge of catering equipment through thirty five years of managerial involvement in all sectors of the industry including banqueting, events, educational, hotels, restaurants and working with several major equipment manufacturers. Her role within the team is design input, specification detailing, sourcing equipment and project co-ordination.
Andrew and Elaine are frequently invited to serve on judging panels for industry competitions and to comment on matters relating to the catering industry.
VALERIE NOCK,
VALERIE NOCK has over thirty years experience within the catering industry. Computer literate having prepared CAD drawings since 1989, she is currently working with AutoCAD 2009 plus Excel and Office. Valerie competently co-ordinates the requirements between site and drawings and is involved directly with our clients.
JOHN BARNES BA, CMA Postgraduate, Commercial Director,
JOHN BARNES BA, CMA Postgraduate, Commercial Director has spent over 30 years in the catering industry. His experience has involved working on prestigious projects including the National Exhibition Centre and International Convention Centre Birmingham, Hyatt Hotels, Royal Mail, Hong Kong Exhibition Centre, BT, Ministry of Defence and projects in Ireland, Italy and Russia.
John’s experience of the private and public sector encompasses many aspects of catering consultancy, including catering management, procurement and project management.
